SOUNDS OF SPITALFIELDS

A festival of music, culture and connection

'Sounds of Spitalfields' is a hypothetical proposal for a one-day music festival in Spitalfields London. The brief for this project was to choose a city and plan an event that would 'present a multifaceted series of cultural events that would provide the city the opportunity for the city to generate considerable cultural, social and economical benefits.'

Inspiration for this event came from my trip to London in 2022 and my two-week stay in Brick lane. The proposed festival is designed to honour the iconic urban landscape and rich musical history of the area.

The concept for this festival is inspired by the early years of the 'St. Jeromes Laneway festival' in Melbourne
through its utilisation of existing structures and urban landscape . The lineup for the original Laneway festival consisted entirely of Australian artists.

The aim of Sounds of Spitalfields is to highlight the unique and rich culture of the area while providing a platform for young and emerging artists exclusively from the east-end.

Throughout my proposal I have done my best to consider the needs of the local community, artists and local businesses. The included financial report is  inaccurate and contains fabricated figures to meet the assessment requirements of creating a break-even budget.

Project date: May 2024
