SLEEPWALKING

'Sleepwalking' is a real time interactive performance  responding to the brief 'Kinomural 2023 - Visual Artwork' in which the theme was 'Altered states of consciousness'.

Inspiration for this piece comes from live music and the connection between audio and visual and how the relationship between the two are able to heighten an audience experience. Sleepwalking represents the feeling of being stuck in a bad dream and the blurring between dreams and reality.

For me, concerts held at larger venues should have elements that extend beyond just the music and the performers on the stage to truly immerse and hold the attention of every person in the audience, regardless of how far away from the stage they are. One of the best arena concerts I have attended that has provided significant inspiration for this piece from was bring Me The Horizons ‘Post Human’ Tour. Through the use of LED screens, lighting and visual projections a cohesive visual story that enhanced the overall concert experience was created. Through this piece I have created a visual interpretation of the song to tell a visual story designed for live use.

The attached video is a demonstration of my patch works, created using MAX works as it has been designed to be interacted with through the use of a computer mouse.
